Protecting the Environment

New Ross Town Council aims to protect and enhance the environment in the town. This is done through the management of collection, recovery, recycling, movement and disposal of waste in the town and our efforts to incorporate sustainability into the waste management systems.

Pollution is also monitored and controlled in an effort to reduce pollution that is adversely affecting the environment. You too can help protect your environment by reporting any illegal activity to Environment Watch on the freephone telephone number below.

New Ross Tidy Towns

The New Ross Tidy Towns Committee aims to make New Ross an attractive and inviting town for both residents and visitors alike.

In order to achieve their objectives, New Ross Tidy Towns Committee work from a five year plan. This plan adopts a holistic and varied approach to a wide range of areas. The main elements of the plan are as follows;

  • To increase community participation and linkage with all sectors of the community, eg. Business, Schools, Tourism, Youth Groups, Sports Clubs, Churches, etc....
  • To promote and create "Wild Life" habitats within the Town
  • To maintain and enhance the heritage of New Ross
  • To eliminate dereliction in New Ross
  • Schools Project
  • Waste minimisation and recycling initiatives
  • Anti-litter initiatives and regular clean ups

New Ross Town Council works closely with the Tidy Towns Committee, offering both practical and financial support.
